Vice President Yadav designated as Acting President as Prez Paudel leaves for Geneva

KATHMANDU, June 12: President Ram Chandra Paudel has designated Vice President Ram Shahya Prasad Yadav to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the President in the former's absence. 

President Paudel has designated the Vice President to look after the responsibilities in his absence after he left for Switzerland today in the course of attending 112th sessions of the 2024 International Labour Conference to be held in Geneva of Switzerland and as well as an official visit to Germany. 

The President designated the Vice President to carry out the presidential responsibilities in accordance with the Article 67 (2) of the Constitution, the Office of the President stated.

President Ramchandra Paudel left for Switzerland on Tuesday to attend the inaugural Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice that will take place during the High-level Segment of the 112th Session of the International Labour Conference.

Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav and Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal bade farewell to the President at the VVIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Paudel will address the inaugural Forum of the Global Coalition for Social Justice on June 13.

Paudel is scheduled to hold bilateral talks with his Swiss counterpart Viola Amherd on June 12.

The President will leave Geneva for Berlin on June 15 for an official visit to Germany at the invitation of German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. President Paudel will hold official talks with his German counterpart on June 17.

The President's spouse Sabita Paudel is accompanying the President during the visit. President's Foreign Affairs Expert Dr Suresh Chandra Chalise, Secretary of the Office of the President, Foreign Affairs Secretary and Nepal's Ambassadors to Switzerland and Germany are the other members of the delegation. President Paudel is scheduled to return to Kathmandu on June 19.
