BUTWAL, Feb 6: Deputy General Secretary of the CPN (UML) Pradeep Gywali has stressed exerting pressure on the government to announce the date for local level elections.
In his address to a program organized at Sainamaina of Rupandehi on Sunday, Gyawali said, “The prime minister has said the local level election will be held in May/April, but the date is not fixed yet. So in this context, there is no reason to be assured of the election.”
Lawmakers urge for announcing date for local poll
He claimed that the parties in the government were shying away from the responsibility of ensuring timely elections. “The poll is not the final goal for communists, but it can open a path for socio-economic development in the country. We want to test the time through elections.”
He asserted that the MCC should be of mutual interest, accusing the Maoist of interfering in it unnecessarily.
