UML emerges victorious in Suryodaya Municipality

ILAM, July 4: CPN-UML candidate Nar Bahadur Rai has been elected as the mayor of Suryodaya Municipality.


He secured 12, 999 votes while his closest rival of Nepali Congress Prem Lal Rai got 10,329 votes.

Similarly, UML candidate Durga Devi Bhattarai has been elected as deputy mayor. She secured 12, 890 votes while her closest rival of NC Khageshwari Adhikari got 9, 927 votes.


Out of total 14 wards in the municipality, NC has won in 1, 7, 13, 14 wards while UML has clinched victory in 2, 3, 4,5 , 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 wards.


Of the total 10 local units (4 municipalities and 6 rural municipalities), UML has won 4 mayors, 4 deputy mayors, 3 chiefs and 5 deputy chiefs.


Similarly, NC has won three chiefs, one deputy chief.


Of the total 81 wards, UML has won 44 wards along with panels while NC has won 16 wards. Other parties have won the rest.
