KATHMANDU, March 5: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Janak Bhattarai has been promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police.
A cabinet meeting held on Wednesday made the decision, officially paving the way for Bhattarai to receive the AIG insignia. Earlier on February 23, the Promotion Recommendation Committee had shortlisted him for the position.

However, Bhattarai will serve as AIG only until March 18, as he is set to retire on that date under the mandatory 30-year service limit as per the existing police regulations.
