KATHMANDU, March 5: Tourist traffic has started increasing in Lukla. After two months, the traffic of tourists has started to increase in Lukla as the weather is favorable.
Lukla Airport Chief Umesh Panthi said that various airlines have increased the frequency of flights of helicopters and airplanes. According to him, the frequency of cargo flights has also increased.
Lukla air travel soars as tourist numbers rise
Due to winter, flights were affected for two months. The flights of airplanes and helicopters have increased for the last four days, he said, adding that the number of foreign tourists has started to increase gradually.
According to him, 60 airplanes and 50 helicopters are scheduled to land on Tuesday. While most of the helicopters are flying from Kathmandu, airplanes are flying from Kathmandu and Ramechhap.
Cargo flights are also being carried out from Ramechhap. Tara, Sita and Summit Air have been operating regular commercial flights to Lukla. Simrik, Air Dynasty, Kailash, Heli Everest, Altitude, Fishtail, and other helicopter companies have also been providing flight services.
