KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to expand its Central Working Committee (CWC) to 281 members from the existing 231 to accommodate the growing number of aspirants for party positions.
The proposal, approved by the CWC meeting at the general convention venue in Tundikhel, will be presented to the closed session, according to party leaders.

Under the proposed structure, the party will have one president, one senior vice president, three vice presidents including one woman, three general secretaries and 14 joint general secretaries. Of the joint general secretaries, 11 will be elected and three nominated, with at least one nominated post reserved for a woman.
The open category will have 45 central members, while 17 seats will be reserved for women.
The NC had a 168-member central committee after its 14th General Convention in 2021, which was expanded to 231 members through the Second Special General Convention in January.
