NC announces Rs 100 million fund for martyr, conflict victim families

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The Nepali Congress (NC) has announced plans to establish a Rs 100 million endowment fund to support families of martyrs, conflict victims and injured people who lost education, livelihoods or opportunities while participating in the party’s movements.



The policy was included in the political proposal presented by party President Gagan Kumar Thapa at the party’s ongoing 15th General Convention in Kathmandu.

The proposal says the fund will reflect the party’s sense of familial responsibility toward its political activists and provide educational and health support to their families.


“The proposal to establish a Rs 100 million endowment fund for educational and health support to the concerned families will be implemented with transparent fundraising, operation and auditing,” the document states.


The proposal also calls for a campaign called Nepali Congress for National Concerns (NC for NC) to directly connect the party with citizens on social and national issues.


The NC has also identified working against caste discrimination, child marriage, gender-based violence, corruption and inequality as part of its political responsibility.
