Under the arrangement, the department will securely share records from its Personal Event Registration and Social Security Management Information System with the Election Commission. The commission will use the data to update and verify voter lists.

Both agencies will ensure the secure exchange of information and maintain data protection and privacy. They will also develop the necessary technical systems and form a joint technical working group comprising representatives from both agencies to address implementation-related technical issues.

The Election Commission expects the arrangement to improve the accuracy and reliability of voter lists and strengthen the use of information technology in election management.

Joint Secretary Rajendra Kumar KC signed the agreement on behalf of the Election Commission, while Department Director General Krishna Paudel signed on behalf of the department.
