KATHMANDU, Dec 9: The Election Commission (EC) has decided to begin updating the voter list and has urged the public to correct errors, provide information, or file objections online until December 12.
According to EC Spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, the details collected nationwide up to November 21 will be used for the voter list update.
For the upcoming House of Representatives election scheduled for March 5, individuals who turn 18 by March 4 will be considered eligible voters. The EC will publish the collected voter details on its website as part of the claims and objections process.
EC publishes voters list for presidential election
Once the preliminary voter list is published, applications can be submitted until December 12 to correct names, addresses, or other personal details. Complaints can also be filed if anyone is found to have registered using false information.
If a person’s name appears in multiple locations, the commission has asked that it be retained in only one place. The EC has also requested information to remove the names of deceased individuals or those who have renounced their citizenship.
After completing all processes under the claims and objections system, the EC will publish the final voter list.
To make the selection of polling locations more convenient, the EC has reviewed several polling centers and expanded online facilities. Voters can now apply online to choose their preferred polling center within their ward.
The EC has appealed to voters and stakeholders to actively participate to ensure a cleaner, more reliable, and error-free voter list.
