KATHMANDU, Oct 5: Armed Police Force (APF) Additional Inspector General (AIG) Banshiraj Dahal has been suspended pending an investigation into allegations that he leaked sensitive security-related information to former Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana in violation of official conduct.
The Ministry of Home Affairs said in a statement Monday that Dahal was suspended after the APF recommended action against him. The ministry has appointed an investigation officer and directed that the inquiry be completed within three days, with a report submitted to the ministry.
According to a senior government source cited in the report, Dahal, who is a relative of former Chief Justice Rana, has been accused of leaking sensitive information.

The ministry said personnel in the civil administration and security agencies are required to comply with standards of official conduct prescribed by law. APF personnel are also legally obligated to protect and maintain the confidentiality of sensitive security-related information, it said.
The Home Ministry said it is closely monitoring and analyzing alleged violations of official conduct by employees under its jurisdiction, including the leakage of sensitive or confidential information and activities that could adversely affect peace and security.
It further stated that anyone found to have been involved in activities or incidents contrary to the law would face action in accordance with prevailing legal provisions.
The ministry reiterated its commitment to the rule of law, legal compliance, and the protection of public peace and security.
A statement issued by Home Ministry Joint Secretary and Spokesperson Ananda Kafle confirmed that an investigation into the allegations against Dahal is underway.
