KATHMANDU, Oct 6: The Nepali Congress’ 15th General Convention is underway at Khula Manch in Kathmandu, with the process of electing the party’s new leadership moving forward.
The Central Election Committee published the voter list on Monday night and released the final schedule for candidate nominations.
According to the schedule, candidates can file their nomination papers from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm today.

Other procedures leading up to the nomination process will also be completed today. Claims and objections regarding the voter list and their settlement are scheduled from 9:30 am to 10:30 am.
The final voter list will be published at 11:30 am, while distribution of nomination forms began at 10:00 am.
The Nepali Congress will have a 297-member Central Working Committee following amendments to the party statute approved at the convention. The committee previously had 166 members.
The expansion follows the endorsement of an amended statute proposed by General Secretary Pradeep Paudel during the closed session at Khula Manch on Monday, the second day of the convention.
Under the amended statute, the Central Working Committee will have 25 office bearers. They include one president, one senior vice president and four vice presidents, with at least one woman among them. The party has created the position of senior vice president for the first time.
The party will have three general secretaries, including at least one woman, and 15 joint general secretaries.
One Central Working Committee member will be nominated as treasurer. The amended statute also provides for one party spokesperson and one deputy spokesperson.
