KATHMANDU, Sept 28: Candidates who have registered their nominations under the election process of the first session of Bagmati Province Committee of CPN-UML are continuing to withdraw their nominations.


For the ongoing election process at UML Central Office, Chyasal, Lalitpur, the process of withdrawing the nominations was delayed by one day.

According to Tara Kumar Shrestha, a member of the Election Committee, around 300 of the total 548 candidates for 240  posts have withdrawn their candidature based on consensus.


After the withdrawal process is over, the election will start following the publication of the final list of candidates. The details of the candidates are entered in the electronic voting machine.


Kailash Dhungel, Krishna Prasad Dahal, Sanukumar Shrestha, Keshar Budhathoki have been nominated for the post of chairman of the committee. As Keshavraj Pandey has also been nominated for the post of chairman through the power of attorney, the Election Committee has said that his candidacy has not been officially accepted.


The closing session of the convention was inaugurated by UML Chairman and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at Bhrikuti Mandap on September 25 and was concluded on Tuesday at the Nepal Academy Hall in Kamaladi.
