KATHMANDU, Nov 25: The 10th National General Convention of the CPN (UML) is starting in Chitwan from Friday. With the general convention approaching, the Narayani river bank area and Sauraha area of Chitwan have become bustling. According to the party, 75 percent of the preparations for the UML general convention have been completed so far.
Leaders and cadres are continuing to go to Chitwan for the convention. Delegates will begin reaching the destination for the General Convention from today. Arrangements have been made for the delegates to stay in Sauraha only from Saturday. The construction work of the platform on the bank of Narayani River, where the inauguration ceremony of the General Convention will be held, is gaining momentum.
UML to hold district convention on January 7
For the convention all vehicles except those used for essential services will be stopped from plying on the road section where the event is scheduled to take place.
The general convention is being held from November 26 to 28. About 500,000 leaders and cadres are expected to participate in the inaugural session of the convention.
