KATHMANDU, Feb 10: The newly-appointed Chief Minister (CM) of Sudurpaschim Province Kamal Bahadur Shah is going to take the oath of office and secrecy today. Shah, who was appointed on Thursday, is going to take the oath of office and secrecy today.
Shah will take the oath of office and secrecy from the provincial chief Devraj Joshi during a special ceremony to be held in the afternoon at the provincial chief's office. The time has not been fixed yet.
Sudurpaschim CM Shah to take oath today
After Rajendra Singh Rawal, who became the CM from the UML, failed to receive the vote of confidence, provincial chief Joshi appointed Shah as the CM. Shah was appointed as the chief minister as a major party in accordance with clause (3) of article 168 of the constitution by the province chief on Thursday.
There are 19 MPs from Nepali Congress, 11 from CPN (Maoist Centre), 10 from CPN-UML in the Provincial Assembly. There are seven MPs from Nagarik Unmukti Party, four MPs from CPN (Unified Socialist) Party and one independent and one MP from RPP. In the next one month, Chief Minister Shah will have to take a vote of confidence from the provincial assembly.
