In the boys´ final, Western Region defeated Eastern Region 25-9, 25-14 while in the girls´ final too, the same teams clashed with a result of 25-14, 25-10, 25-11 in favor of the team champions. Durga Prasad Mahato and Aruna Shahi, both from Western Region, were adjudged the best players in volleyball. [break]
However, Mid Western Region secured the top spot in athletics with 13 golds, 11 silvers and six bronzes. Western Region finished second with seven golds, 10 silvers and six bronzes while Eastern Region stood third with four golds, two silvers and four bronzes. Rabin Chaudhary in boy´s athletics and Dilmaya Karki in girls´ athletics were declared the best players.
The top three teams of both athletics and volleyball bagged a purse of Rs 5,000, Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 respectively while the best players received Rs 1,000 each.
The three-day tournament was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the National Sports Council.
Namgyal win basketball match
KATHMANDU, June 11: Namgyal School defeated Wilson School 45-39 during the Fourth HIMS Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Friday.
Likewise, Galaxy, Baba, HIMS and Daffodil won their respective matches.
Galaxy thrashed Rai School 50-17, Baba School edged out Young Heart 43-39 while the hosts HIMS hammered St Xavier´s 61-22. Daffodil ousted Unique 48-26 in the last match of the day.
APF beats Mid-western to enter women's national cricket final
