Sindhupalchowk witnesses 18 new cases of COVID-19 including nine Kuwait returnees

Sindhupalchowk, June 19: The number of coronavirus cases in Sindhupalchowk district has spiked to 24 with 18 fresh cases reported on Thursday.


Of the 18 new cases reported today, nine are among the 23 females who returned from Kuwait on June 11.


Thirteen individuals who were staying at a quarantine facility at Bahunepati and five in Melamchi have been diagnosed with COVID-19. Their throat swab samples tested positive for the virus at the National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.

“Of the 26 swab samples collected for Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests, 18 tested positive,” said Senior Public Health Officer Durga Datta Chapagain.


Eleven infected persons are from Pachpokhari Thangpal Rural Municipality, four  from Melamchi Municipality and three of Helambu Rural Municipality.  


With this, the COVID-19 tally in Sindhupalchowk has reached 24 including one death and a case of recovery.
