KATHMANDU, Aug. 11: Shram Sanskriti Party Chair and lawmaker Harka Raj Rai, popularly known as Harka Sampang, has said Nepali citizens are not feeling secure or receiving justice, public services and opportunities as they should.
Speaking at a meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) on Tuesday, Sampang said the government must take the situation seriously and work to make the country safer, fairer and better governed.

He said providing security to citizens should be the state’s foremost responsibility, but that currently no one—from lawmakers to ordinary citizens—is truly safe.
“No one is safe in Nepal. Anything can happen,” he said. “We are ready to do whatever is necessary to keep this country functioning as a proper state. I am ready, and our party is ready.”
Sampang made the remarks in response to a statement made by the prime minister in the HoR two months ago, in which he said that Nepal had also encroached on Indian territory.
He also said morality is the source of political strength, power and legitimacy, warning that elected representatives would lose public trust if they abandoned ethical standards. He urged the prime minister to fulfill both his moral and constitutional responsibilities.
Sampang further criticized the prime minister for repeatedly failing to attend parliamentary meetings despite long-standing calls from lawmakers to appear in the House, saying his absence should not simply be treated as an act of political stubbornness.
