Rs 2.5 million cash robbed in broad daylight in Biratnagar

BIRATNAGAR, Sept 27: An unidentified group has robbed of Rs 2.5 million from a vehicle parked at Gudari in Biratnagar in Biratanagar on Tuesday.

BIRATNAGAR, Sept 27: An unidentified group has robbed Rs 2.5 million from a vehicle parked at Gudari in Biratnagar on Tuesday.


The cash was looted by smashing the window pane of the vehicle few minutes after it was withdrawn from Nepal Rastra Bank.


The robbery occurred while Mt. Makalu Development Bank staffers were shopping leaving the money behind in the vehicle.


Mt. Makalu Development Bank based in Tehrathum had withdrawn the money from NRB.

DSP Sanjaya Singh Thapa of City Police Office, Biratnagar, said they have deployed a squad of security personnel in the incident area as soon as they received the information about the robbery.


They are carrying out investigation after taking the vehicle into the District Police Office, Morang. 


DSP Thapa said, “We have not yet found detailed information about the loot. We are investigating. The rear glass is broken. The area is a busy place and it is guarded by police all the time.”


The investigators are having trouble finding clues on the incident. Nobody is sure about the appearance of the gang. With no proper description and information about the incident, the case has become more complex.


The money was looted from a car, Ko 1 Ta 8099. The driver of the car said that a group of intruders came by, smashed the window pane of the car and made off with the money while he was away to drink water.


The incident took place at Biratnagar when the driver and another employee of the bank had come to withdraw the money.
