The ‘Puppet Theater Workshop’ kicked off on October 14 at the Theatre Mall Kirtipur Rangamanch, Kirtipur. The workshop is being organized by Theater Mall Nepal in collaboration with Rarahil Memorial School, Assitej Nepal, and Japan's Utervision Performance Company.
Theaters back into operation
Japanese puppet theater director, Erina Saji along with her team is giving training on a variety of topics in the workshop. In the workshop, the participants will be able to understand the history of the Puppet Theater, popular puppet theaters around the world and their relationship with the community along with knowledge of making puppets, organizing puppets, art of storytelling and their presentation on stage.
Kedar Shrestha, art director of the Theater Mall said, “Puppet Theater is not prevalent in Nepal. So, through the workshop we tried to bring one of the genres on theater— Puppet Theater."
A total of 14 artists and 10 school kids are participating in the workshop. There will be a separate puppet show from participating school kids and artists. The final show from the workshop will be showcased on October 24.
