In a bid to develop Himodaya Primary School of Ruga VDC a well-facilitated bordering school, the District Education Office (DEO) in coordination with Ashal Chimeki, a non-government organization working in educational sector in the district, has already started construction of a couple of two-storey school buildings. There are around 260 students in the school which was established some five decades ago. [break]
Currently, students of the primary school are taking their classes in the school buildings which are already in a dire strait.
As part of its community development project, Ashal Chimeki has financed around Rs 40 million for the construction of the school buildings. Each school building will have around 16 rooms.
“One building will be used as school hostel whereas classes will run in another one. The school buildings will have well-equipped science laboratory, spacious toilets and canteen,” informed Karna Bir Buda, chief of the school management committee.
Ashal Chimeki aims to complete the construction work by the next three years. Apart from the providing financial support for the construction, the non-government organization has also been providing textbooks, school bags, and other accessories to students.
Buda informed that the school buildings are being constructed as per the code issued by the DEO for the school building construction. “We have already completed technical survey of the buildings. Construction is underway,”
Importantly, the school buildings will be earthquake-resistant, reported the DEO. Man Bahadur Ghimire, Chief Education Officer, said that if the primary school could be declared a model bordering school in the district, it would also help to improve the physical resources of other public schools in the district.
There are 136 public schools in the district.
