KATHMANDU, March 29: The hospital has reported that former Prime Minister and CPN-UML Chairperson KP Sharma Oli is at high health risk. Due to these health concerns, he is currently receiving treatment at Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital.

As of Sunday, the hospital stated that Oli has been diagnosed with high blood pressure, diabetes, fluid accumulation in the kidneys, gallstones, and thyroid issues.

During treatment, Oli has undergone a full set of medical tests. Hospital spokesperson and neurologist Dr. Gopal Sedhain told Republica that the health condition will be clearer once the reports are reviewed, and a decision will be made on whether to perform surgery for the gallstones. He said, “Whether surgery is required or not will be determined tomorrow after the reports are examined by the gastroenterologist.”

However, Dr Sedhain noted that Oli’s high-risk condition requires extra precautions. Since he already has kidney issues with previous transplantation, lifelong medication is necessary. Other health complications also indicate significant risk, so he must remain in isolation wherever he is, with close monitoring of his medication and diet.
