BAGLUNG, July 28:  Unlike a majority of community schools, Shree Janata Higher Secondary School (SJHSS), a community school of Jaimini Municipality-10, Rangkhani, Pahi, has become an exemplary school in the municipality. The school provides quality education and has started technical education which makes it a model school.

As SJHSS has started science and management stream for grade 11 and 12, the number of students has climbed up.

The community school has also started teaching in the English medium. This has not just improved the results of the students but has also increased the number of students. The facilities and quality education provided by the school has attracted students from areas far and wide.

Santosh Paudel, a student of SJHSS, said, “Our school has a computer lab, e-boards, a science lab and other facilities which make us feel like we are studying in private school.”

According to him, there are so many schools nearby his house but none of them have facilities like SJHSS. So, he joined SJHSS, though he has to walk two hour a day to reach the school.

The school runs classes from nursery to grade 12 and has about 400 students. Kamal Paudel, Principal of SJHSS, said that with the support from the community, the school has become a model community school of the municipality.

“We have been focusing on providing quality education to our students. This has drawn students,” he said.

The rate of students migrating to cities seeking higher education has gone down as SJHSS has been providing excellent education and good results in their own village, claimed former principal, Dharmagat Sharma.

“Earlier, the parents used to take their children to cities for better education. Now this trend is on the decline.

The number of students dropping out in the middle of the academic year has also come down," Sharma explained.

Daan Bahadur Thapa, a parent, said the school is one of the top schools of the district with very god results in Grade 12 and SEE examination.

Former Ddirector of SJHSS, Thapa stressed that there should be coordination among teachers and community for the improvement of the students'results.
