KATHMANDU, March 2: Nepali Congress (NC) President Gagan Thapa has said the party has moved forward with a renewed commitment by correcting past weaknesses.
Speaking to journalists during an election door-to-door campaign and public interaction program in Sarlahi on Monday, Thapa acknowledged that voters — including party cadres — have expressed numerous grievances regarding the party’s power-centric politics and coalition practices.

“There is a long list of complaints from NC members and the general public,” Thapa said. “Questions have been raised about coalition politics, compromises made for power, and the party’s failure to deliver while in government. We have come forward with a new resolve to correct and reform those shortcomings.”
He added, “This is not the time to remember the Nepali Congress of 2074 BS. If we appear like the 2074 Nepali Congress, people will question why they should vote for us. Our commitment is to draw inspiration from the Nepali Congress of 2015 BS and 2046 BS, and address the demands of the present time with that spirit.”
Responding to a question about youth employment and the growing nationwide unemployment problem, Thapa described it as a major national issue.
He said he has prioritized youth employment in his election manifesto and expressed a commitment to move ahead with special plans to address the problem.
