KATHMANDU, Jan 31: Police fired four rounds of bullets to arrest a drug dealer in West Nawalparasi on Thursday evening.
The police fired four rounds of bullets at Pachgaon, Ramgram Municipality-12, Nawalparasi and arrested a drug dealer. The arrested individual has been identified as Rajesh Lonia,52, of Ramgram Municipality-12, Nawalparasi. He was shot in the upper part of his leg.
Police fire shot to take drug dealer in control in Jhamsikhel
Police said that they had received information about drug trafficking at Lonia’s house. Following the information, a team of five officers, led by Sub Inspector of Police Sagar Bhattarai from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) went to Lonia’s house.
When police tried to detain two people with brown sugar, they attacked the police instead. Therefore, police had to open fire when one individual tried to snatch the pistol from the policemen and another person tried to run away. During the incident, the police fired four rounds, and only one bullet hit Lonia, who was fleeing. The other individual managed to escape.
Lonia, who was injured, was sent to District Hospital, Parasi, in a police vehicle and his condition is stable. Additionally, 93 packets of a substance resembling brown sugar dust were found at Lonia's house, according to the police.
Police have launched a search operation to find the person who managed to run away.
