Rs 64.15 billion sent abroad for Nepali students' foreign education

Nepalis students pursuing higher education abroad have taken Rs 64.15 billion out of the country in the first seven months of the current Fiscal Year (FY), according to data published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).

KATHMANDU, March 11: Nepalis students pursuing higher education abroad have taken Rs 64.15 billion out of the country in the first seven months of the current Fiscal Year (FY), according to data published by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB).


Under the services account, travel expenses have risen by 10.6 percent to Rs 115.88 billion, with Rs 64.15 billion allocated specifically for education. The NRB reported that during the same period last year, total travel expenses reached Rs 104.75 billion, while spending on education amounted to Rs 66.64 billion.

During the review period, the net service income deficit widened to Rs 50.22 billion, compared to Rs 36.38 billion in the same period last year.


Meanwhile, tourism income under the services account grew by 7.7 percent to Rs 49.21 billion, up from Rs 45.68 billion in the corresponding period last year.
