KATHMANDU, June 8: The Supreme Court on Thursday quashed a writ petition filed at the apex court against Acting Chief Justice Gopal Parajuli demanding that he should be barred from assuming the post of chief justice.
Writ petition by DIG Silwal quashed
A single bench of Justice Purushottam Bhandari scrapped the writ petition arguing that no evidence was found regarding discrepancies in Parajuli's academic credentials and age as claimed by the writ petitioner. The decision to quash the petition has paved the way for Parajuli to work as the head of the judiciary.
Advocate Bikash Giri had filed the petition against Parajuli claiming that the latter had presented forged academic credentials and forged citizenship certificate to prolong his stay in power.
