PAC to hold meeting on Jan 21 to discuss cement cartel issue

A complaint has been lodged with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives stating that the industries have deliberately increased prices by creating artificial shortages.

KATHMANDU, Jan 19: The issue of increasing the prices of cement through a cartel has reached the parliamentary committee. A complaint has been lodged with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) of the House of Representatives stating that the industries have deliberately increased prices by creating artificial shortages.

As the cement industry has increased prices arbitrarily, raising the construction costs, and the government has remained silent on this matter, the Federation of Contractors' Associations of Nepal (FCAN) has started visiting the leader’s offices to address the issue. Meanwhile, the committee has called a meeting to discuss the matter with all stakeholders.


The committee has scheduled a meeting for January 21 at 11 am. The committee currently has received altogether 95 complaints on different issues.
