Janga Bahadur Ghising arrested while reportedly walking with the slain woman’s head


KATHMANDU, Oct 9: Police have arrested a person in connection with the brutal murder of a woman in Udayapur district. The incident took place on Tuesday at 6:30 PM.


Police said that the arrested suspect has been identified as Janga Bahadur Ghising Tamang, 36, a resident of Triyuga Municipality-6. Tamang is accused of brutally murdering Urmila Lama, 28.

According to Rajan Chapagain, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), at the District Police Office,  Janga Bahadur and Urmila were ex-husband and wife. Janga bahadur used to live in India for work and had returned home on September 29. They had divorced two years ago after frequent quarrels. Janga Bahadur had started to live with his ex-wife after he returned from India, police added. 


Locals had reported the incident to the police after seeing that Tamang was found walking in the Jaljale Bazar with Urmila’s head. After receiving the information from the local residents, a team of police personnel from the local police office, Jaljale took control of Tamang.  


DSP Chapagain said that the preliminary investigation reveals that  he has killed his ex-wife on the suspicion of her affair with another man and past issues.


Police said that Janga Bahadur killed her by using Kukhuri. The remaining part of her body was recovered from the room. Further investigation into the incident is currently underway.
