BAITADI, Nov 8: The CPN-UML has successfully concluded its local level convention in Baitadi district under the party’s 10th General Convention.

The local level convention was held in six rural municipalities and four municipalities of the district for the election of new leadership. However, no women and Dalits were elected in any of these wards. The leaders elected in all 84 wards of the district are male.

As there is a tendency to doubt the leadership of Dalits and women, the two groups have not received a single leadership. According to the District's Secretary for CPN-UML, Lila Dhar Bhatta, women and Dalits have been given a place in other offices even though they were not elected in the post of chairperson of any municipality. “Although the participation of women and Dalits in the post of chairperson is zero, they have been given other posts in offices,” Bhatta said.

Furthermore, the selection of a representative of the district is scheduled for November 13. Likewise, the Provincial Assembly convention and district convention will be held after the party’s General Convention. The 10th General Convention of CPN-UML will be held in Chitwan from November 26 to 28.
