KATHMANDU, Feb 12: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) halts the entire health care services except the emergency ones across the country today to protest against police assault against a medical doctor on Friday.
The NMA has decided to suspend all the health care services that are carried out from the government, non-government, private and other health institutions, hospitals, medical colleges and academies. However, emergency services will not be disrupted, reads a statement issued by NMA.
While President Bidya Devi Bhandari was returning after addressing the Federal Parliament, a policeman deployed for the security of the presidential escort, had beaten up Dr Jenith Singh, who works at the Trauma Center.

Meanwhile, the senior police constable Shambhu Gurung, who allegedly beat up a Senior Orthopedic surgeon Singh was suspended on Saturday.
