On February 10, during the presidential escort of President Bidya Devi Bhandari, a doctor at the National Trauma Center was physically assaulted by the security personnel. Health institutions across the country have stopped all services except for emergency ones protesting against the incident.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health and Population has requested NMA to withdraw its protest and resume work. The ministry said it has also formed a negotiation team to resolve the issue. Nepal Police has already suspended the police constable, who allegedly beat up Dr Janith Lal Singh.
