KATHMANDU, Feb 12: The Nepal Medical Association (NMA) halts the entire health care services except the emergency ones across the country today in protest of Friday’s attack on medical persons by the police.
The NMA has decided to suspend all the health care services that are carried out from the government, non-government, private and other health institutions, hospitals, medical colleges and academies. However, emergency services will not be disrupted, reads a statement issued by NMA.
NMA halts all but emergency health services today
On Friday, while President Bidya Devi Bhandari was returning after addressing the Federal Parliament, a police officer deployed for the security of the president, had beaten up Dr Jenith Singh, who is working at the Trauma Center.
Similarly, the senior police constable Shambhu Gurung, who allegedly beat up a Senior Orthopedic surgeon Singh at National Trauma Center has been suspended on Saturday.
