Hosts Newton defeated Nightingale 25-18, 25-21, 25-15 in straight sets. Sunil Tamang of the victorious team was declared man-of-the match. Likewise, Newton´s Binu Bhujel was named best player, Kamana´s Umesh Chhantyal bagged best lifter and Newton´s Kusum Pariyar got best blocker while Nightingale´s Amar Mahato was declared best server.
In the girls´ category, New Diamond edged out Gyan Sudha 25-4, 25-12, 25-10. Ranjana Khadka was named woman of the match during the final. Ramila Tandukar of New Diamond was declared best player. AI´s Pramisha Rai, Shova Gauchan of Venus and New Diamond´s Bina Moktan bagged the awards for the best spiker, best blocker and best server respectively.
NIMS, Daffodil and Unique win basketball titles
KATHMANDU, Dec 8: Senior girls´ team of NIMS, junior boys´ team of Daffodil and senior boys´ team of hosts Unique A won the titles of the Fifth Unique Inter School Valley-wide Basketball Championship on Tuesday.
NIMS struggled past Kantipur 23-22 while Daffodil settled for third position in the senior girls´ category.
In the junior boys´ category, Daffodil defeated hosts Unique 33-30 by a small margin. Gaurishankar secured third position.
In the three-on-three senior boys´ category, team A of hosts Unique defeated team B 31-26.
Kantipur´s Sanchita Gurung, Chiring Lama and Bikash Gurung of Unique were declared the most valuable players.
Hosts Niten , Daffodil win in basketball
KATHMANDU, Dec 8: The girls´ teams of hosts Niten Memorial School, Daffodil and Teresa registered victory in the First Niten Memorial Inter School Basketball Championship on Tuesday.
The hosts defeated Excelsior 22-10 and Daffodil nailed Reliance 18-2 while Teresa beat Galaxy.
In the boys´ category, Mt Kailash and hosts Niten B won their respective matches. Mt Kailash ousted Excelsior 47-30 while the hosts edged out Reliance 42-35.
