NEPSE surges 37.13 points; daily turnover increases to Rs 7.09 billion

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday escalated by 37.13 points to close at 2,690.72 points.

KATHMANDU, Oct 7: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Monday escalated by 37.13 points to close at 2,690.72 points.


The secondary market opened at 2,653.58 points and gained around 49 points in the first 50 minutes. The index again fell 20 points in the next one hour. It reached the day’s high at 2,706.94 points when the trading was left for the last hour. The market shed around 16 points in the remaining period before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, increased 7.32 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 7.09 billion from Rs 6.13 billion on Sunday.


Among individual companies, 177 were gainers whereas 66 companies were recorded as the losers.


Two groups including manufacturing and processing, and finance shed 93.96 points and 23.96 points, respectively. Of the remaining 11 gainers, hotels and tourism added the highest of 228.51 points.


Chandragiri Hills Limited had the biggest turnover of its shares worth Rs 262.31 million. Three Star Hydropower Limited gained the highest of 9.93 percent, while Eastern Hydropower Limited was recorded as the topmost loser.
