KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Wednesday surged 34.29 points to close at 2,957.75 points.
The secondary market opened at 2,923.46 points and plunged to the day’s low at 2,884.53 points in the first one and a half hours. The market, however, went to an upward graph and recovered around 73 points in the remaining trading hours before it closed for the day.

The sensitive index, which measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies, added 8.34 points. The daily turnover increased to Rs 23.43 billion from Rs 21.51 billion on Tuesday.
Among individual companies, 156 were recorded as gainers whereas 79 were the losers.
Three groups—microfinance, life insurance and mutual funds—were the losers, while microfinance shed the largest of 38.57 points. Of the 10 gainers, four groups were successful to add three-digit points in their indices; finance index by adding 282.96 points listed as biggest gainer.
Himalayan Reinsurance Limited had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 865.85 million. Central Finance Co Ltd, Samriddhi Finance Company, Progressive Finance, Matribhumi Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited, Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company, Mountain Hydro Nepal, Himalayan Hydropower, Ingwa Hydropower and Upper Syange Hydropower Limited were recorded as the highest gainers of 10 percent of their share values. Mandakini Hydropower Limited was the topmost loser.
