KATHMANDU, August 24: Nepal registered 587 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, along with 164 recoveries and one death from the virus, according to the latest information released by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).
As many as 4,177 swab samples were tested for COVID-19 on the day. Of them, 242 PCR and 245 antigen tests turned out to be positive for the virus.

Across the nation, there are now 4,350 active cases of COVID-19. Of them, 4,123 are isolated by themselves, 175 are in institutional isolation, 50 are in intensive care units, and two are on ventilators. So far, 11,995 people have died of the viral disease nationwide.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley recorded 153 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday. Of them, 117 cases were recorded in Kathmandu, 11 in Bhaktapur, and 25 in Lalitpur districts.
