Nepal finishes with a gold, four bronzes in Hong Kong

KATHMANDU, Jan 11: Nepal bagged a gold and four bronze medals in the 20th Asian Citizen Taekwondo Championship that concluded on Sunday in  Hong Kong. Nisha Rawal bagged the only gold for Nepal in women's U-73 kg event. Sangita Bashyal (women's U-62 kg), Sangita Timilasina (women's U-36 kg), Pujan Khadka (men's U-33 kg) and Bikesh Bhandari (men's U-68 kg) claimed bronze medals.


Para-Olympic Prez Chand dies

KATHMANDU (REPUBLICA): Nepal Para-Olympic Committee President Surendra Bahadur Chand passed away at the age of 70 on Monday. Chand breathed his last at Om Hospital where he had been receiving treatment for kidney and sugar problems. Chand's final rites were performed at the Pashupati Aryaghat. Chand is survived by a son and a daughter. Before the final rituals, sports persons paid their last tribute to Chand.
