KATHMANDU, Oct 29: Nepal on Thursday confirmed 2,364 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19). Of the 9,769 real time PCR tests carried out in various labs across the country in the past one day, 1,380 males and 984 females were diagnosed with this viral infection.
With the new cases detected in the past 24 hours, the national COVID-19 tally has advanced to 164,718. The country had first reported the infection on January 23, earlier this year.

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), 3,038 people who had earlier been diagnosed with the viral infection recovered on Thursday taking the total recoveries to 124,862 – 75.8 percent of the total cases. Similarly, the country reported the 900th death due to COVID-19 including 17 new deaths confirmed in the past 24 hours.
As of Thursday afternoon, there are a total of 38,952 active patients of the disease across the country undergoing treatment either at home or institutional isolation centers.
Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley, where Nepal’s federal capital city lies, confirmed 1,615 new cases (911 males and 704 females) on Thursday.
