KATHMANDU, Feb 5: Nepal is set to establish its first-ever cyclotron facility in Dhading within the next nine months. This will improve cancer detection and treatment in the country. The initiative, launched on World Cancer Day, is a collaboration between Ambar Arbud Sewa, Meta Healthcare Nepal, United Imaging Healthcare, and Longevous BeamTech Co. Ltd.

For years, Nepali cancer patients have relied on imported medical isotopes for essential PET scans, crucial for early diagnosis and effective treatment. With the new cyclotron facility, these isotopes will be produced locally, ensuring greater accessibility to advanced diagnostic services.

“As cancer cases rise, early detection is key. This facility will eliminate delays and the need for patients to travel abroad for essential scans," said Dhan Bahadur Sherchan, President of Ambar Arbud Sewa.

The project aims to benefit hospitals and medical institutions nationwide while opening avenues for further research in nuclear medicine. The expertise of Meta Healthcare, United Imaging Healthcare, and Longevous BeamTech Co. Ltd will ensure that the facility meets international standards, providing life-saving medical imaging services to patients across Nepal.
