Gautam was eyeing for the post for a long time. Earlier in October last year, the party had unofficially decided to elevate Gautam to the post of vice chair and amend the party's statute for the same.
The meeting also approved a separate political report tabled by NCP chairperson duo KP Sharma Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal.
Likewise, the party plenum formed a three-member task force to give suggestions to the party secretariat regarding the controversies being surfaced over the 500 million MCC grant.
