Nagarik journalist awarded national investigative journalism fellowship

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Sabita Shrestha, a Chitwan-based correspondent of Nagarik daily newspaper, has won the national investigative journalism fellowship provided by the US Embassy in Nepal in collaboration with Share Cast Initiative. Shrestha got the award for writing an investigative article about the difficulties of making laws at the local level for the local government.

KATHMANDU, Oct 2: Sabita Shrestha, a Chitwan-based correspondent of Nagarik daily newspaper, has won the national investigative journalism fellowship provided by the US Embassy in Nepal in collaboration with Share Cast Initiative. Shrestha got the award for writing an investigative article about the difficulties of making laws at the local level for the local government.

Beating a total of 287 competitors, 24 provincial winners from seven provinces and seven finalists, Shrestha was awarded with Rs 200,000 by Randy Berry, the American Ambassador to Nepal. The other finalists were also provided with Rs 70,000 each by Ambassador Berry. 


Before this, 24 journalists among 287 journalists from eight different cities of all seven provinces had received the tile of first level investigative journalism fellowship with an amount of Rs 30,000 each. Established in 2013, Share Cast Initiative is a non-profit company contributing mostly to the Multimedia sector.
