KATHMANDU, Jan 3: Resham Chaudhary, who is currently serving jail term in Dilli Bazaar Prison after the court convicted him in connection with the killing of police personnel on duty in Kailali a few years ago, has applied for registration of new party in the Election Commission on Monday.

He has applied for the registration of a new party under the chairmanship of his wife Ranjita Shrestha. He had already informed this to the jail administration on Friday.

Since it was not possible to form the party under his own chairmanship since he is currently serving a jail term, Chaudhary formed the party in the name of his wife. A team of his trusted friends including Shrestha had reached the Election Commission to register a new party.

Chaudhary has decided to name the party as ‘Citizens' Liberation Party’. Earlier, he had planned to name the party as Nagarik Samajbadi Party. After Chaudhary's cadres went to the Election Commission (EC) to hold consultation, Chaudhary decided not to use the proposed name i.e. ‘Nagarik Samajbadi Party’.
