KATHMANDU, April 14: An agreement has been reached among the Nepali Congress (NC), the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party, and the Resham Chaudhary faction of the Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) to support Lakshman Kishore Chaudhary as the Chief Minister of Sudurpaschim Province.
It is said that a preliminary understanding has been reached between NC Parliamentary Party leader Kamal Bahadur Shah, NUP Parliamentary Party leader Ghanshyam Chaudhary, and CPN (Unified Socialist) Parliamentary Party leader Dirgha Bahadur Sodari.
NC formally supports Resham Chaudhary's CM candidate
Resham Chaudhary, the patron of the NUP, announced their intention to submit a formal claim for the Chief Minister’s post with backing from both the NC and the Unified Socialist Party. “A written agreement has been secured with the NC and the Unified Socialist. We will officially stake our claim at the province chief's office,” he stated.
NUP’s Chaudhary faction has decided to make Lakshman Kishore Chaudhary the Chief Minister, while Ranjita Shrestha faction has nominated Kailash Chaudhary as the Chief Minister.
The deadline for submitting claims to form the government is set for 5 PM on Sunday.
NUP Chairperson Shrestha has been stating that there has been an agreement between the top leaders of the alliance at the center to allocate the position of chief minister for the NUP. According to the leaders, this agreement was reached between Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, and CPN (Unified Socialist) Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal.
