More than 40 farmers killed in a grisly attack in Nigeria

Borno state information commissioner Usman Tarar said militants from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) shot and killed several farmers in Dumba, a town on the shores of Lake Chad, on Sunday night.

NIGERIA, Jan 14: Jihadists have killed at least 40 farmers in recent violence in a conflict-torn region in northeastern Borno state of Nigeria.


Borno state information commissioner Usman Tarar said militants from the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) shot and killed several farmers in Dumba, a town on the shores of Lake Chad, on Sunday night.

"Initial reports indicate that about 40 farmers were killed in this grisly attack. Efforts are underway to reunite many of the farmers who survived the attack with their families," Tarar said.


The state government has ordered troops battling the jihadists in the area to track down and destroy the rebels.
