KATHMANDU, Oct 12: Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Devendra Dahal stated that the BP Highway will be quickly reconstructed and brought back into operation.
After floods and landslides washed away more than 12 kilometers of the BP Highway, reconstruction work is underway. Minister Dahal, who returned to his home district of Jhapa to celebrate Dashain, mentioned that efforts are being made to fully restore the BP Highway before people return to Kathmandu after the festival.
3 months after repair, BP Highway back to square one
The BP Highway has been used as a short route connecting Kathmandu with eastern Nepal.
He stated that many damaged and washed-away sections of the highway have been restored and that the road reconstruction work has not been halted even during Dashain.
Dahal stated that the government is working to ensure that ordinary people returning from celebrating Dashain in eastern Nepal can travel via the BP Highway. He mentioned that while the road is partially operational, all the resources and efforts of the state are being utilized to fully restore it.
