FinMin assures of adequate budget for Araniko Highway expansion

KAVRE, Sept 1: Finance Minister Dr Prakash Sharan Mahat has assured that there will not be any shortage of budget for the expansion of the Araniko Highway. The government is expanding the highway into six lanes.


The finance minister said this while addressing the Seventh District Assembly of the District Coordination Committee, Kavrepalanchowk in Dhulikhel on Friday.

"Budget issue will not affect the ongoing works for expanding the highway into six lanes. I am hopeful that the expansion works will be completed soon. The budget for this purpose will not be halted under any pretext," he reiterated.


The Suryabinayak-Sanga and Sanga-Dhulikhel sections of the highway are being expanded in two phases within the next three years. The road expansion works on the two sections covering a total length of 15.5 kilometers were started from Sanga on February 28, 2023. The Sanga-Dhulikhel section is 8.4 kilometers long while the Suryabinayak-Sanga section is 7.5 kilometers long. The government has earmarked Rs 4.05 billion for the construction of the Sanga-Dhulikhel section of the highway while Rs 3.88 billion has been allocated for the Suryabinayak-Sanga section. 


Minister Mahat also expressed his belief that the economy will revive in the coming days and the government would encourage the private sector.
