KATHMANDU, Feb 28: The plane carrying Foreign Minister Arzu Rana was diverted to Kolkata after failing to land in Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu due to bad weather.

Bad weather cancels 61 flights

Despite multiple attempts, the plane could not land in Kathmandu and was diverted to Kolkata. Rana was returning home after attending a UN meeting in Geneva.
The western low-pressure system caused light rain in the Kathmandu Valley this morning.
The bad weather forced the Qatar Airways flight to divert to Kolkata after it failed to land in Kathmandu. The flight, which arrived from Doha on Friday morning, could not land at Tribhuvan International Airport and had to be redirected, said Tribhuvan International Airport Spokesperson Rinji Sherpa.
Sherpa confirmed that Foreign Minister Rana was on board the flight. Sherpa added, "The Qatar Airways flight diverted to Kolkata due to bad weather. The flight will return to Nepal once the weather improves."
