Minister Bhusal conducts monitoring of govt offices

KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development, Dr Beduram Bhusal conducted a thorough monitoring of the central offices under the Ministry.

Minister Bhusal inspected the Central Veterinary Laboratory, National Vaccine Production Laboratory, Central Referral Veterinary Hospital, Nepal Veterinary Council in Tripureshwor, Kathmandu.

During his visit, he engaged with the employees to learn about the ongoing work and provided instructions to expedite various tasks.

These offices play crucial roles in addressing animal diseases, administering necessary vaccinations, and treating sick animals. During his inspection, Minister Bhusal expressed particular interest in the efforts made to diagnose and control Lumpy Skin Disease in animals across the country.

The Senior Veterinary Officer at Department of Livestock Services, Dr Tanka Prasad Prasai, said that the vaccine is mandatory for the control of Lumpy Skin Disease and the National Vaccine Production Laboratory is working to produce the vaccine. For the control of lumpy skin disease, the Department has made the necessary infrastructure for vaccine production, said Dr Prasai. Minister Bhusal stated that the process of bringing the essential seed virus required for vaccine production from India has progressed.

After bringing the seed virus from India, the laboratory will manufacture the vaccine for Lumpy Skin Disease. Minister Bhusal instructed the employees to ensure this task is completed before the Dashain festival.

Purna Bahadur Budha, a veterinarian, provided Bhusal with information about the production of vaccines for other diseases in livestock, the condition of the physical infrastructure of the laboratory for diagnosing diseases of livestock, the condition of the necessary manpower, and the condition of the machines that are not in operation in the laboratory.

Minister Bhusal requested that the machines which are not in immediate use should be used immediately and if there are other problems, he should be formally informed about the work to be done immediately. Minister Bhusal has emphasized that the work of the livestock sector should be carried forward by addressing resource shortage immediately.
