KATHMANDU, March 18: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Pampha Bhusal has announced to make the electricity consumed for irrigation free of cost. Stressing the need for making the agriculture sector independent and supporting the country’s economy, Minister Bhusal decided to make the use of electricity free of cost for irrigation purposes.
Stating that the government had cut the cost of electricity use for irrigation by 50 percent on November 9 last year, Minister Bhusal declared that the cost has been made free for irrigation purposes. Speaking at the 41st Annual General Meeting of the Nepal Handicraft Federation, in Kathmandu on Friday, Minister Bhusal repeatedly urged the businessmen not to import goods that are produced in Nepal.
Damage to irrigation amounts to Rs 2.42 billion
On the occasion, She also urged them not to procure plastic flowers just for profit. She stressed the need for businessmen to focus on producing and distributing goods that can support the country’s economy. She also laid emphasis on increasing the export of handicrafts to strengthen the country’s economy.
