Market monitoring team padlocks medical shops

MORANG, Sept 28: A joint market monitoring team on Tuesday sealed more than two dozens of rampantly operated medical shops while carrying out raids in Biratnagar sub-metropolis.



The team comprising the representatives of the Department of Drugs Administration, Department of Commerce, Consumers´ Committee and the District Administration Office monitored the medical shops acting on the growing complaints regarding its rampant operation. [break]



During the monitoring, it was found that medical shops have been run without having legal registration and adequate training.



According to Coordinator of the Team Gopi Ghimire, more than two dozens of medical shops including Nepal Medicine Sewa Sadan, Paruhang Medical, Shiva Shakti Medical, Diya Medical, Lotus Pharmacy, Adarsha Medical, Baijanath Medical and Kalash Pharmacy were sealed for not operating the shops up to the mark.



Scores of medical entrepreneurs fled the scene to avoid actions against their wrongdoings after knowing about the campaign of raid.



Action against those fleeing the scene will be taken by keeping their names in the blacklist, the team informed.



Nearly 100 medical shops are in operation in Biratnagar.
